Born
and raised in the Montrose area of Houston, TX, Ed Martinson is
the drummer and musical foundation of 2nd Wind. Growing up in
a musical household, Ed's earliest influence was classical music.
Early experiments with piano lessons failed to inspire him, but
his life was changed forever when he saw The Beatles on the Ed
Sullivan show.
He
lobbied his parents for drums, and it paid off when he got his
first set at age 16. By the age of 19, he was working regularly
with Houston-area bands. Citing legendary rock drummers Charlie
Watts, John Bonham and Joey Kramer has primary influences, "Big"
Ed refined his style on stage with a succession of local bands
including Finz, which opened for early '80s standouts the Busboys.
Remaining
faithful to his earliest influences, "Big" Ed brings a Ringo-style
rock steady approach to his work -- a perfect musical fit for
2nd Wind.
